Welcome to the message board!

Hi Senior Honors class. As we discussed at the end of the first semester, I am going to make an effort to let your voices be heard in more ways than just our class discussion. Thus, by your request, a class discussion board! Hurrah! So, for the first post, lets talk a bit about what YOU think a discussion board forum should look like. I have some thoughts, and I'd love it if you guys would use your knowledge of some of my pet peeves about the difference between formal and informal writing to inform this discussion.

  2. This is Fantasia
This book seems like it will bring up the topics we have previously discussed about the other utopian societies. I think it will be most like Brave New World because it inloves alot of technology.

  3. ele oh ele. this is hiiiilariousness and it aint not cool homie. anyway this an example of what not to write on this particular type of blog. Such comments are not grammarically correct and are not appropriate. For such a discussion there should be a professional demeanor and correct spelling or an attempt to spell correctly and write according to correct english standards.

  4. Shut up Franklyn lol

  5. I think that for a discussion forum to work as effectivly as possible, we all must be considerate to each other. I think that we should also speak our minds and challenge each other.

  6. It should be informal but while still using appropiate language. It should not be graded on whether you use sophisticated language or not but rather if you get your point acrossed in the way that others can understand you.

  7. I think everyone should be considerate of eachothers thoughts, and not be repetitive with their ideas. Be sure to read over the previous posts and respond. Do not use aim language very often, just when appropriate.

I think having this online discussion forum will be a great idea ! I'm excited =P

  8. It should be a free- for all. You can respond and continue to comment about other people's comments. Or start new topics.

  9. you see my fellow friends, peers, and co workers, i believe that the aim language of our day should be utilized in some variance in order to promote bonding that is usually found on such blog spots....yo....haha i didnt it again and Chad is the one that did the voice thingy yo know. ok brb.....back muahahahaha. ok ttyl lol =P see im bonding. =P

  13. also we should respect each other as my fellow classmates said as well, [citation needed]and we should all try to write information that is relevant to the topic and not just rant abour things such i am and have been doing.......muahahahahahahahaha =P

  14. I believe that a list serve comment should be as appropriate as possible. I do not feel that it should also be as formal as writing a paper. Slang obviously should not be allowed but if people agree that it should be a friendly chat then im ok with it.
Besides that, i hope that book is fun. I really am a picky person when it comes to books and i get bored really fast. Yea, just hope is good.

  15. I'll be the first to say that it shouldn't LOOK professional. Instead, the forum should maintain a professional, insightful, and though provoking demeanor. We don't always have to be so serious. I think that people should add "appropiate" humor to the forum so that we don't get bored reading this stuff.

AND NO F*****G WALLS OF TEXTS! No one likes a reading the worlds longest paragraph espically on the interent.

    So yea...that's all.

  16. A discussion board forum should look professional and appropriate. It should be grammarically correct and in english. POST INTERESTING THINGS OR DON'T POST AT ALL.

  17. I think a discussion forum should look like a set of very opinionated thoughts that the seniors write in response to a question and also their thoughts to what their classmates are writing. I feel that when writing a blog we should not be evaluated on our formal writing skills. We should be able to write freely and informally using short handed words, like if we were speaking on "aim". It would make it easier for us to write and it will be quicker for us to get our thoughts across. And honestly if it has to be written formally I doubt anyone would respond.

I believe a Blogspot comment should have many different aspects in it in order to create a great comment! The comment should show that you have read the other peoples comments and, you have acknowledged what other people thoughts and opinions were. Another aspect of your comment is that it should show that you have read the book and that your answer is thoughtful and insightful, and show that you have read and understood the contents book. Another aspect of the Blogspot comment is the spelling and grammar should be correct and on a “college-level” standard.

  19. This blod should be whatever u like and all that. But, maybe it should focus around english and anybooks we read. also, if people who read should help out people who dont just a hint. im out this.. lata

  20. A discussion forum should be as informal as possible. We should not need to structure our responses at all. However we should still speak with intellegent typing.

  21. Marlina, you sound like a pro.

  22. I think that it is important hat every post idfferent ideas and challegene one another. In a way this is better because there is no one who can limit the things that we say or interrupt us when we are talking. For example if I do not agree with someones comment i can ignore it and move on with my life. I do not like the idea of this whole blog thing but i guess i am going to have to live with it. Well at least the details of the book can be fresh in our mind when we are home reading the book. Slang should not be used in these disscusions and I think that going back and forward are totally unnecessary.

  23. I think keeping it appropriate should be the only concern here

    ReplyDelete
  24. Also... work on some grammer perhaps.

    ReplyDelete
  25. shut up (name) should be allowed

    ReplyDelete
  26. opps I made a speeling error...WHERE IS SPEEL CHECK WHEN YOU NEED IT????????

    ReplyDelete
  27. A comment or question should never be repeated as it can aggravate other people. On regulated discussion forums, if a question that has already been asked is posted, you will be told to search more carefully before posting.
